An interesting afternoon in a very quite venue - in fact without us it would have been virtually empty. Full marks for the excellent staff but only half marks for the un-inspiring food. Javu is probably best as a night spot but misses the target as a place to have Sunday Lunch!
The venue was very sumptious to the eye and felt really indulgent, the staff were quite attentive too.
Full marks for my roast chicken arriving on a piping hot plate, but the veggie selection was weighted in favuor of red cabbage. Plenty of meat for one's money (!) but stingy on the broccoli.
I'd be inclined to try them again on a Saturday or weekday to sample the more extensive menu available. The old venue name of Saqqara had a great choice and very good value, this visit to Javu did little to help with comparisons.
I retired from teaching more than 20 years ago and spend most time indulging myself in painting at Bailey Contemporary Arts on Brighton Seafront.
